Richard Murray, Area 37 Governor, shares the following update for his area.
All is going well, both clubs are working hard to help their members reach their personal goals. Canterbury is on track to achieve President’s Distinguished Club and Toasted Sandwich will achieve Select Distinguished. I am very happy with how both clubs are being run and the members seem to enjoy the meetings.
Canterbury Communicators have already reached seven points in the distinguished club program which is higher than any other club in the division at the moment.
The club has a goal to be the most outstanding club in the district by having more educational awards than any other club in district 71 this toastmaster year.
Canterbury club has 6 educational awards at the moment and the club we have to beat is Bishops Town Club in Cork that already has 10 educational awards and was awarded district Toastmasters club of the year last year. Move over Bishops Town, Canterbury is on its way and looking to obtain the outstandingly impressive number of 20 educational awards for this Toastmasters year.
There are only two active clubs in the area and we are in the process of setting up a club in Ashford. The plan is to have a demonstration meeting at the end of January and be chartered within three months. This will mean we will be able to stay as one area and not have to merge with another area as we will also be looking to get a fourth club set up.
We held a very successful youth leadership program and look to hold another one in September of this year.
Club officers training will be taking place on Tuesday 4th February at the Manor Barn in Canterbury.
Many congratulations to Richard and all the marvellous Toasties of Area 37. Your energy and commitment to our organisation is a credit to you.
